Shirley May Gurling, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023, at the age of 96 of natural causes, in Temecula, California, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 29, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clyde Evans and Pearl Inger Brown.

She is survived by her children, Kirk (Sharon), Craig (Shawna), Kareen Dobron, twelve grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Richard Gurling, Jr. and a son, Mark.

Shirley spent the first 13 years of her life in Salt Lake City, but moved with her parents to San Diego, where she attended Roosevelt Junior High and San Diego Senior High schools.  She later attended San Diego State College where she met the love of her life, Charles, who had just returned from World War II.  They were married on October 20, 1946.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 20, 1949. They lived and raised their family in San Diego, until 2005 when they moved to Lehi, Utah.  In April 2009, her beloved husband of more than 62 years passed away, after which she moved to Temecula, California, to be near family, where she remained until her death.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her whole life, serving in various callings, but mostly callings that utilized her musical talents. She loved and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Funeral Services will be held in the Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 32374 Pauba Road, Temecula, California, on January 24th, 2023.  The funeral services will start at 10:00 AM, preceded by a viewing at 9:00 AM.  Burial will follow at the Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California, at 2:00 PM.  Funeral arrangements being handled by England Family Mortuary, Inc.
