Obituary

Robert "Bob" Paul Calcagni, 73, of Temecula, California, passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2025.

Bob was born on July 30, 1951, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Italian immigrants, Giovanni Calcagni and Nicolina Calcagni, née Battista. Along with his brother, John, Bob learned the importance of hard work, education, and treating others with respect through the example of his loving parents. This generational lesson—respect for others—became a theme in Bob's life and one he passed down through his words and actions.

Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In 1975, he married his college sweetheart and love of his life, Suzanne Calcagni, née Garton, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together, they raised three children—Sarah, Peter, and Mark—who were the pride and joy of his life. Bob is survived by his loving daughters-in-law Julie and Jennifer and his three beloved grandchildren: Michael Giovanni, James Robert, and Sophia Joy. He is also survived by his brother John and his close-knit extended Italian family.

Bob built a long and respected career in woodworking, business management, and later property management, combining his skill for craftsmanship with his entrepreneurial spirit and natural talent for leadership. Whether working with his hands or mentoring others, he was known for his dedication, diligence, and fairness.

Outside of work, Bob found joy in life's simple pleasures and his deep faith. He was a gifted storyteller, an avid gardener who could make anything grow, a motorcycle enthusiast who loved the open road, and a loyal sports fan with a lifelong love for baseball (Padres and Red Sox), football (Chargers), and hockey (Bruins).

Bob joined the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) more than two decades ago, where he found fellowship and purpose. He later helped establish the Temecula CMA chapter—Angel Riders—and served as a CMA Area Representative, using his passion for riding as a way to minister and connect with others.

Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast character, and unconditional love. He expressed in his later years a profound sense of peace, gratitude, and fulfillment in a life well-lived. A Celebration of Life will be held August 24th, 2025, at 1pm at the Ronald J. Parks Community Recreation Center in Temecula, California, where all are welcome to gather, share stories, and honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his honor to the Christian Motorcyclists Association or the John M. Barry Boys and Girls Club of Newton, Massachusetts—organizations that were important to Bob.
