Richard "Dick" Young, 90, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, from complications of multiple myeloma, just weeks after celebrating his 90th birthday. 

Born on May 7, 1936, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dick embraced life with boundless energy, determination, and a spirit of adventure that never faded. While working as a ski instructor in upstate New York, he met the love of his life, Anna Grace. Their love story led to a wonderful marriage that spanned 49 years. Dick cherished not only his wife but also her large Brooklyn Tomasetti family, often saying they were "the best family one could ever have." His warmth, humor, and genuine love made him an integral part of their lives, and he will be deeply missed by them all.

Dick's remarkable life was filled with accomplishments and experiences that reflected his fearless nature and a passion for living. As a young man, he won a National Championship in roller skate dancing and later competed in Roller Derby. His adventurous spirit led him into competitive and salvage diving, stock car racing, and work as a disc jockey. He also operated heavy construction equipment throughout New York before beginning a distinguished career as a private investigator.  

After moving to California, Dick continued to pursue the activities he loved. He purchased a 42-foot trawler and spent countless happy days fishing and vacationing in Catalina and Lake Havasu. Together with Anna Grace, he developed a passion for horses, enjoying more than a decade of roping cattle and team penning. They began their California life on a small horse property in Nellie Gail Ranch, where they formed lifelong friendships, before spending twenty wonderful years on their three-acre horse ranch in Fallbrook. For the past 20 years, Dick & Anna made their home in the wine country of Temecula, CA.

Professionally, Dick dedicated more than fifty years as a respected private investigator, serving insurance companies and government agencies with integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment. His reputation for thoroughness and dependability earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. 

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Anna Grace Young; his daughter, Natalie Young; his sons, Walter Young and Kevin Young (Kym); his granddaughter, Erin; and his great-grandson, Reznor. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Young, and his beloved mother, Emilia. 

Dick will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his hardworking nature, his quick wit, and the kindness and loyalty he showed to those fortunate enough to know him. He lived life to its fullest, embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm and courage. His legacy lives on through the countless memories he created, the lives he touched, and the family he loved so deeply.
