Phyllis Joan Cress, 91, of Temecula, California formerly of DeKalb, Illinois, entered God’s Kingdom on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

She was born December 9, 1934, in Spring Grove Twp, Juda, WI, the daughter of Alfred and Minnie Koepp.

Phyllis graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1953, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kishwaukee College in 1985. In 1953 she married Richard Dove and lived in England for two years where her daughter Vicki was born. She moved to DeKalb in 1957. Later she was married to Jack Cress.

Phyllis was employed under contract with TRI-R Vending for 17 years at Northern Illinois University. In 1989 she was employed with Northern Illinois University in the Office of Testing Services for 20 years. In June 2010 she retired from NIU and in June 2015 she moved to California. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, refinishing furniture, genealogy and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb, IL.

She is survived by her children Vickie Haynes of Marysville, WA and Greg (Gendong) Cress of Temecula, CA; her brother Dennis (Marilyn) Koepp of Spring, TX; her grandchildren Guy Haynes of San Diego, CA, Brian Cress of Temecula, CA and Ciara Cress of Temecula, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Dean Koepp, Dale Koepp and Reid Koepp.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to England Family Mortuary, Inc. and Anderson Funeral Home.
