Burial will follow at 12pm on May 1st at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA 92518.

Felix was born in Tepache, Sonora on May 19, 1947. He was raised in Tepache and Hermosillo until he was adopted at the age of 14 by the family of Don & Alice McElwaine of Studio City, CA. He graduated from John H Francis Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, CA on June 17, 1966.

Felix was drafted in to the Army on March 12, 1968. He was a cook and served until he was honorably discharged on March 11, 1970. He received a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He remained in the reserves for 2 years. He then worked at Market Basket, later Vons, for 20+ yrs until retiring in 2005.

Felix married Maria Elvia Jimenez in Tepache, Sonora on May 13, 1972, and raised their family which included 2 daughters and 1 son in La Puente, CA for 30 years. After the tragic loss of their son Felix Jr. on February 18, 2003, he retired in 2005 and they settled in Murrieta in 2006 for the remainder of his life in which he enjoyed spending time with family which included a total of 9 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

He was a passionate Dodgers and Lakers fan, talked about politics and adored his grandchildren. He was present, ready to cheer, in every game, performance and event his grandchildren participated. After his oldest daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, he actively supported breast cancer research “hope for the cure,” and walked a 5k along with family in support. If one could define Felix’s life by a motto, it would be “treasure family and friends, be humble, forgive quickly, smile and love and fight for life until your last breath.” He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends that saw in him an example of love and compassion.

Felix is predeceased by his parents Maria del Rosario (Chala) Montaño Dávila y Manuel (El Taco) Cadena Velarde, his beloved son Felix Cadena Jr., his sister Soledad and nephew Louie Garcia. He is survived by his adored wife of 46 years, Maria Elvia (Jimenez) Cadena, daughters Cynthia (Reginald) Flexen and Jessica (Gabriel) Caloca; his nine cherished grandchildren: Clarissa, Bella, Daniella & Vanessa Flexen; Joshua, Annabelle & Gabriel Caloca Jr; Raymond & Jazmine Cadena; and great-grandson Jaxson. Also, surviving are his siblings Juanita, Francisca, Rosario, and half-brothers Alejandro, Manuel Jr, Luis & Alberto y and their respective families.
