Mieko Ozawa Wijma, age 75, died peacefully at home on November 12, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Japan and graduated from Meiji Gakuin (University) with a degree in literature. In 1958 she married Harm, a Dutchman, who had been her high school pen pal. This year they celebrated their 51st anniversary. Mieko spent 45 years in Japan but also lived in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore before retiring in California to be near her children. She loved golf, brush painting and taking care of the people and things around her. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Assistance League of Temecula Valley. She is survived by her husband (Harm), her son and daughter-in-law (Roy and Lannie), her daughter and son-in-law (Cindy and Yasser), two grandchildren (Justin and James), and her granddog (Maya). She is also survived by her sister, brother, and many nieces and nephews. Her generosity and kind spirit will be missed greatly. Services are pending.
