Lynda J. Metzler died peacefully on May 7th, 2025, surrounded by her husband and family, less than 2 weeks away from her 85th birthday. Lyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Mildred and Bruce Relyea where she attended Euclid High School and was the Class of 1958's Homecoming Queen. Upon graduating, she attended Miami University at Oxford Ohio, earning a degree in Education and taught briefly after graduation. In 1962, she married her husband of almost 63 years, Edward Metzler. Lyn and Ed raised 5 children while moving around the country from Michigan to Ohio, to California, back to Ohio and finally back to California. In 1993, they settled in their paradise, the Shady Lane Ranch, on the Santa Rosa Plateau in Murrieta, California. For over thirty years, they enjoyed socializing in the La Cresta community and were devoted members of the Santa Rosa Plateau Riding Club, often hosting rides and cow sorting events at their ranch.
Lyn was an avid reader, horse woman, curious traveler and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who forever worried about her dogs and enjoyed a great conversation and a good laugh with family and friends over a glass of wine. She was a wonderful friend to many and enormous fun to be around. She also gave back to the community by volunteering at the Assistance League of Temecula Valley and was president for a time. Lyn was preceded in death by her son, Matthew and grandson Hunter is survived by her husband Edward; children, Michael Metzler, Melinda Jodoin, Marliee Metzler, and Marcia Metzler Rackstraw and 7 grandchildren.
