IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis Winston
Salem
December 1, 1946 – February 11, 2026
Louis “Lou” Salem, age 79, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.
Born on December 1, 1946, in Washington, D.C. He was the second of three children to Louis and Telma Salem. Lou lived a life devoted to family, faith, and joy. He enjoyed a long and successful career in Los Angeles, California as a territory manager with Pine Corporation, where he was admired for his dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic. Lou retired at the age of 56 and later made his home in Temecula, California, embracing life’s next chapter with gratitude and enthusiasm.
A devout Christian, Lou lived guided by faith, kindness, and integrity. He was a loving and devoted husband to Norma Salem, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with care, laughter, and enduring commitment. He was a proud father to five daughters and one son, always offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love.
An avid golfer, Lou spent countless happy hours on the course, never seeking recognition despite his remarkable talent. Though he was a six-time club champion at Riviera Country Club and recorded an extraordinary 31 holes-in-one, he spoke of these achievements modestly, focusing instead on the simple joy the game brought him. Equally unassuming was his gift for music - self-taught on the guitar, Lou could figure out nearly any song, sharing his talent freely and delighting family and friends without fanfare. His humility shone through in his humor and storytelling as well; when he captivated a room, it was never to draw attention to himself, but to make others laugh, feel connected, and enjoy the moment.
Affectionately known as “Papa Lou and Grandpa,” he treasured his role as grandfather to seven grandchildren and great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in every moment spent with them.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at England Family Mortuary in Temecula, California. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor Lou’s life, love, and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lou’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Lou will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity, steady presence, warmth, humor, devotion to faith, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of love, joy, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
