Lolita
Muchnick
Aug 15, 1955 — May 29, 2026
Lolita Muchnick, beloved mother, sister and auntie passed away on Friday, May 29th after a long-fought battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home in California surrounded by family. She was 70 years old.
Born as Lolita Alvarez, her family and friends referred to her as Lala. She grew up in the Philippines in a large Catholic family and immigrated to the United States after graduating college to be a nurse — a profession she worked in for over 40 years until her retirement.
Lala married twice and had two children, eventually calling Southern California home. She lived a cheerful life full of simple pleasures and lots of laughter. Her joy for food was front and center. She loved cooking for the people she loved, but she loved sharing the meal with them even more. She was always looking forward to her next meal, but rarely helped with the leftovers — there was always something new she wanted to try.
Lala is survived by her two sons, Chris and Tommy, and countless sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her large and adoring family, both in California and in the Philippines.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to England Family Mortuary, Inc.
