Obituary

James (Jim) A. Lupo, 90, passed away at home on July 26, 2020, after a long battle with interstitial lung disease. Born May 4, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, Jim was the fourth child of six children born to Gabriele and Carmella Lupo, immigrants from Italy. He attended schools in Chicago and later the family moved to Long Island, New York, where he continued his education and was on the school wrestling team. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, as an MP serving in the military for six years, stationed in China and the Presidio, San Francisco, CA. He married Catherine Capusotti and had two sons, Michael and Rick. They resided in San Lorenzo, CA for many years. After the service, he was employed with Mayflower Moving Co. as a Warehouse Manager, owned/operated a deli-restaurant in Northern California that was chosen as one of Apple Computers "Top-10 Preferred Vendors," and retired from Svenhard's Swedish Bakery Co. where he worked as a driver/salesman. Many years later, he met and married the love of his life, Susan Oles, and they shared 25 wonderful years together residing in Murrieta, CA. Many happy times were spent with the "Friends" group, neighbors, friends and family. During these years he owned/operated "Sparkle Like a Gem Window Washing Co," in Murrieta, CA. Jim loved to make people laugh and always shared his good humor with all who knew him. He enjoyed woodcarving, sailing, playing cards, tennis, participating in many activities with the "Friends" group and traveling to visit family. He will best be remembered for being a kind, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather (Grandpa Sky and Papa Jim), brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was a humble man who lived a simple, happy life. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Susan, sons Michael and Rick (Margie) Lupo, stepchildren Sara Anderson, Glenn Cain and grandchildren Anthony Lupo, Nicole Lupo, Cali Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson, Sydney Cain, sister Clara (Tom) Castro and brother-in-law Bruce (Cindy) Miller. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriele and Carmella Lupo, sisters Stella Burdick, Vera (John) Carman, infant twin brothers Michael and James Lupo. The Lupo family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Kaiser Permanente and Kaiser Hospice Riverside for their excellent care and compassion. Due to the pandemic circumstances, there will not be a Celebration of Life Memorial at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, 10917 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA 92505 in memory of James A. Lupo. The family wishes to thank those who have shown their love and support during this difficult time. In loving memory of our Good Humor Man.
