Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Lehman, of Upland, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, entering the presence of the Lord she had served faithfully.

She was born in Wayne, Michigan on February 13, 1935, the daughter of the late Walter Eugene and Elizabeth Baird.

Liz was married to the late Reverend Harold Lehman, who she met at Fort Wayne Bible College in Indiana. Shortly after marrying in 1955, they were commissioned as missionaries to Hawaii and built their lives and family on Oahu and Kauai, along with several years pastoring in Ohio. They moved to California in 1971 to pastor the Nuevo Community Church where, in addition to helping raise four daughters, Liz oversaw everything from children’s and women’s ministry to playing the organ and typing the weekly bulletin. She also taught at Riverside Christian Day School, worked at Berean Christian Store in Riverside and was a faithful pastor’s wife in every sense of the word. They served in Nuevo together until moving to Temecula in 1983 and over the years she worked as an administrative assistant for The Linfield School, Rancho Community Church and Grace Presbyterian. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family, cherished her faith, and always loved a good (clean) joke, a game of aggravation, and chocolate.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband Harold, son-in-law Lance Albayati, and grandson Kyle Albayati. She is survived by her children, Ruth Catron, Sharon Lehman, Joy Albayati, and Marie Hagen (Sam); grandchildren, Bethany (Darren), Justin (CJ), Kasey (Grace), Nathan, Cameron (Whitman), Tommy (Kaitlyn), and Matthew (Kasey); great-grandchildren, Bradley, Sadie, Emry, Easton, Everlee, Melody, Maisey, Elizabeth, Charlotte, and Jameson. She is also survived by her friend and sister-in-law Elaine Taylor and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, Walter Eugene and Elizabeth Celestia (Kefarber) Baird; and siblings, Edie, Millie, Ralph, Bud, and Violet.

Liz’s life will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 9 at England Family Mortuary - 27135 Madison Ave, Temecula, CA 92590. Reception immediately following.
