David Joel Cheek was born September 1, 1943 in Marble City, OK, to Arthur and Jewell Cheek, the first of six children. The family moved to Kern County, CA in 1945. He graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1961 and worked in Bakersfield and later Colton, CA doing accounting. For many years he resided at Olive Dell Ranch in Colton until his demise. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, John. He is survived by siblings Michael (Joan) of Arcadia, CA, Bill (Pam) of Carson City, NV, Denise Parks (John), and Kathy Thompson (Stan) of Bakersfield, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his aunt Betty.
