Obituary

U.S. Veteran Clarence Gustav Franke, age 73, passed away on September 8, 2009 due to liver complications at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, CA. He was born on September 23, 1935 in Elgin, IL. He resided in Southern California for 47 years and the last 10 years in Temecula. He worked as a sales manager for Kaynar for 10 yrs eventually developing his own companies, ending with Ideal Anodizing and Aqua Gems, a pool chemical company. He never took a full retirement as he always was actively involved in his companies at all times. Clarence served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was an accomplished athlete, his senior year at Elgin Academy in IL he was recruited for his football skills, resulting in champion status, he received some memorable, but slightly smelled old leather shoulder pads at the reunion for class of '53. He was fortunate to have a visit from the school director, John Cooper in July. He attended several universities in IL the came out to CA where he continued to take more classes. In his spare time he enjoyed golf and later watched football and basketball. He is survived by his wife, Claire Franke; daughters, Christine Greenleaf, Megan Poulsen, Allison Cowdell, and Andrea Rasmusssen; son, Dwight Franke; sisters, Barbara Parker, and Cheri Bundschuh; and 12.5 grandchildren and 1 great-granchild; he is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Christine Franke; sister, Jean Schulz. Services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on La Paz in Temecula, CA. A viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service following at 11:00am. The burial will take place at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and/or Fullerton Boys and Girls Club.
