Obituary

Arthur N. Baker, Jr., 71, entered into the presence of the Lord on March 28, 2026.

Arthur was born on July 4, 1954, in Muncie, Indiana, to Arthur N. Baker Sr. and Rosetta Baker. He is affectionately known as “Butch” to his family. He is survived by his siblings Barbara Gomm, Susie Mader, and Debbie Baker Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur N. Baker Sr. and Rosetta Wilson; his sister, Davia Elizabeth Brown and his brother, Larry Baker. 

Arthur proudly served in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1981, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to his country. Following his military service, Arthur made his home in San Diego, California, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and service. While living in San Diego, he attended the Christian Service Training Institute (CSTI), graduating in 1991. His commitment to ministry continued as he served as a Junior Sunday School Teacher under the direction of Pastor Edward Sandez, pouring into the lives of young people with love and wisdom.  Arthur was deeply devoted to his church and faithfully served as the Head Usher, where his welcoming spirit and dedication to God’s house touched countless lives.

He had a special love for children, always showing patience, kindness, and a gentle heart. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him, and he had a unique way of making others feel seen and valued. He will be remembered for his strength, his faith, and his unwavering dedication to serving others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he impacted with his love and guidance.

Arthur is survived by his beloved family and friends, whose lives were forever enriched by his presence. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 8, 2026, at 6pm at Upper Room Church, located at 631 12th Street, Imperial Beach, CA 91932, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and legacy.

The family appreciates the support, prayers, and kind expressions of sympathy during this time.
