Amelia Vidal Angcao

Beloved Daughter, Sister, Teacher, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother 1934 to 2023 (age 89)

Amelia Angcao was born January 5, 1934 in Cavite City, Philippines to Mateo Mendoza Vidal and Victoria De La Pina Villanueva.  She passed away peacefully from general organ failure on May 30, 2023 in Temecula, California.  Amelia was a life-long adherent of the Catholic faith.  Amelia was the family matriarch and will be greatly missed by her many family and friends.

Amelia was the third oldest of seven siblings, namely:  Hermenegildo Villanueva Vidal (deceased), George Villanueva Vidal (deceased), Augusto Villanueva Vidal, Norma Vidal Abrenica, Rogelio Villanueva Vidal, and Crisente Villanueva Vidal (deceased).

Amelia married Nestor De La Pena Angcao on August 16, 1956 in St. Mary Magdalene Church in Amadeo, Philippines.  Amelia and Nestor were happily married for 66 years.  Together they welcomed six children to their family:  Edgard Vidal Angcao (spouse, Melinda Bianang Angcao), Frolian Vidal Angcao, Dante Vidal Angcao (Edna Barrientos), Marijean Angcao Gamat (Arturo Cuevas Gamat), Eleanor Angcao Francisco (Arielito Francisco), and Joselito Vidal Angcao (Florabel Montajes)

Amelia and Nestor also had ten grandchildren:  Joseph Bianang Angcao, Sheila Bianang Angcao, Marianne Bianang Angcao, Angelique Bianang Angcao, Marisol Barrientos Angcao, Jan Cyrill Angcao Gamat (James Taylor Meyers), Dylan Jacob Angcao Gamat, Eariel Angcao Francisco, Ellysse Montajes Angcao, and Janelle Montajes Angcao.

Amelia immigrated to the United States on May 18, 2005 to join other family members who had also come to America.  She became a citizen of the United States, along with her husband on September 21, 2012, and together they resided in Temecula, California.

Amelia was a student and appreciator of music her entire life and earned a Masters in Music at St. Joseph College in Cavite City, Philippines.  She was a full-time high school music teacher for 38 years at the Cavite National High School and also taught family members how to play the piano.  In her later life, Amelia rarely performed in public, but she was often found playing the piano "secretly" whenever she thought she was alone.

Amelia's other hobbies included cooking, crochet, and working on puzzles.  She also loved entertaining and throwing big parties for family occasions.  She always greeted family members with her characteristic infectious laugh and playful smile.

The family wishes to thank all of those who provided support during Amelia's illness and who gathered today, either in person or in spirit.
