Alfred Tristan Soto was born on May 16,1926 to Dolores and Juan Soto in Los Angeles, CA. He passed away peacefully at his home in Murrieta surrounded by his children and beloved wife on February 27, 2012. He was 85. Alfred is survived by his wife Mary Louise, 4 children John, Rachel (Tony), Ernest (Susie), Arthur (Robert), 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Alfred was the youngest of 3 children and the only son. Alfred is preceded in death by his older sisters Espie and Rose. Alfred joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served his country for 4 years. His sons, John and Ernie, as well as 2 grandsons continued the military tradition. Alfred met his sweetheart Mary Louise at a dance when he was 20 and she was 19. They married August 24, 1946 and spent the next 64 years raising their family and taking care of one another. They moved to Santa Fe Springs around 1950. Alfred was a construction worker who specialized in glass, installing windows and doors at grocery stores, malls, and high rise buildings. He retired at the age of 58 and enjoyed his retirement with Mary and his family. Alfred loved his grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them when they were younger. Alfred was nicknamed "Tata" by his grandson. He was excited to see most of his grandchildren have children of their own and call himself a great grandfather. Alfred loved reading, football, boxing, eating at his favorite places, BBQ's, working outside but most of all spending time with his family. In 1993, Alfred and Mary moved to Murrieta to be closer to their son Arthur. Alfred was a hardworking and kind man who always helped others in need. He loved his family and even in the end did not want to leave. Alfred will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held at England Family Chapel on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 10:00am. He will be buried with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:00pm that afternoon. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
