Hye Kyong Clement was born on March 19, 1952 in Daegu, Korea to Dae Hyun and Kap Son Cha. After granduating from High School she moved to Jinhae-gu, Korea where she met her late husband Thomas Clement. They married in 1971 and moved to California in 1974 where her husband was stationed in San Diego. She was a supportive military wife and loving mother of three traveling the U.S.A and abroad. Once her husband retired from the US Navy, she devoted her life to the ministry with him as he became an ordained pastor. In 2005 her husband was diagnosed with ALS and she became his full time caregiver. Hye Kyong was called home by the Lord on Sunday, February 11th after her courageous battle with Lung Cancer. She is survived by her son, Keith Clement (Vanessa); daughters Collin Burkott (Lt. Col. Michael Burkott) and Calista Jones (Sid); brother Han Kuk Cha (Youn Hi) and sisters Mi Kyong and Kyung (Lee); six grandchildren, Anthony Clement (Kimberlee), Justin Burkott, Dakota Whitson, Bella Clement, Thomas Burkott, and Sophia Clement and one great granddaughter, Emilyn Clement. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dae Hyun and Kap Son Cha, husband, Thomas Clement, brother, Han Chel and son-in-law, Bryan Whitson Jr. A private service and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of your favorite charities in Hye Kyong's name.

  1. One of many memories: Hye Kyong tried to cut her hair, let’s just say she got a little to happy with the scissors.��She decided she would just wear a hat until it grew out. Every Sunday a new hat but no taking a it off (at least in public) until it grew. What fun we had with that. She was so beautiful, she would have looked good in a sack. Love you Hye Kyong.
