Frank Michael Hallberg

frank hallberg
Frank Michael Hallberg. Beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, son-in-law and brother-in-law, friend, 50 years old passed away on December 12, 2018 after a long, courageous battle against cancer. Frank was born May 22, 1968, in Iowa to Lola Humpal Hallberg and the late Mark Hallberg. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23-1/2 years, Tammy Hartley Hallberg who never left his side during his tremendously courageous fight against cancer. The love they shared was strong, true, and one most everyone strives to have. He is also survived by his dear mother, Lola, and three brothers: Daniel, John, and Richard; as well as several nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. Frank’s work ethic was beyond compare. Through the years he worked construction, many double shifts at Disney World in Orlando (where he met his beloved Tammy), selling cars and being recognized as Salesman of the Month numerous times. He took pride in helping grow and manage “Dent Wizard” in Florida from the early 1990s to 2006. Frank was an entrepreneur, starting with an Italian pizza restaurant, a smoothie franchise and eventually moving to the unknown world of California where he opened and operated an Interior Magic Franchise. His ultimate dream was to own and operate a sports restaurant and bar named after him. In 2015 he opened Franklin’s Cove in Murrieta, CA. Although Frank was diagnosed with cancer shortly after taking the ownership of Franklin’s Cove, he and Tammy worked diligently to make it an enjoyable place. He worked through the treatments and kept a positive attitude. He truly shined and loved every moment of his dream business of Franklin’s Cove. His staff and guests were affectionately known as “The Cove Family.” All who knew Frank will never forget his infectious smile, his gorgeous blue eyes, and positive attitude and energy. Frank refused to allow the cancer nor its treatments to damper his courageous attitude nor his love for life. Our world is a much sadder place without Frank, but his spirit in all who knew and loved him will live on and, as Frank would always say, “No worries!”

Guestbook

  1. Everything written here about this wonderful man is true. After moving here from Florida and meeting Frank and Tammy, we found another home at The Cove. Never have we met two more kind, friendly and welcoming people. Frank will live on in our hearts and his spirit will forever be dancing on the bar and singing rock and roll with all of us! This is not a good bye for he is now and will always be smiling down upon us. Until we meet again……..June & Tony

  2. Frank I’ll always remember your smile, hard work ethic, love of music & enjoyment of life! You were an inspiration to all! Thanks for providing countless hours of pure fun dancing & listening to the great entertainment you brought to the Cove! Tammy & Lola hugs & prayers for you & your entire family! Kathy Clark

  3. Frank is also survived by two aunts, Holly and Patty ( me) and an Uncle Nick in Iowa. I considered myself to be a second Mom to Johnny, Frankie and Danny when they were little. I have John, Frank and Dan trees in my yard. They planted them when they were 11, 10 and 7. Frank always got a kick out of coming to Cedar Rapids to visit his childhood stomping ground! Frank would ask my husband Bob and me how we did things. He said he wanted to be like us! What a compliment that was! I remember cocktails at the Amvets in Cedar Falls, trips to Las Vegas and Christmas auctions in Iowa! Frank made an occasion just a little more special! When Frank came to Iowa for Lola’s brain surgery, Frank and I had the opportunity to go out for a nice dinner – just the two of us. We talked about everything. I thank God for that time. i picture him helping my Mom decorate the Christmas tree in heaven because anyone who knows Grandma Humpal, knows that’s what she would have Frank doing. And Grandpa Humpal will be directing! FRANK YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY ❤️

  4. Frank your smile was the light of every gathering! You will be missed dearly! Rest in peace my friend for you are no longer in pain.

  5. Friday night eighties at the pizza place singing dancing and always smiling while we work I’m sure he is doing the same in heaven good times !

  6. I don’t know if I will ever understand why God had to take away such a wonderful human. Frank was one of the best people I have ever met – and Tammy is his equal in every sense. He was a better person on his worst days than many of us are on our best. As I searched for a photo with him, I was really reminded of how much wonderful time I have spent at Franklin’s Cove over the years – we all did – because that place is wrapped in love and epitomizes “community.” It is where we celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, gathered to support Frank and Tammy… it’s where you met your friends and always made new ones, too. One of my strongest memories of Frank is walking into the bar and being greeted by his huge, pearly-white grin. I hugged him and asked him how he was doing… “Great Kim, I’m just great! (with absolute sincerity) I just unplugged myself from chemo 30 minutes ago and I feel great!” “WHY are you here, Frank? Go home and rest!” “Oh no, this place is my life and I love being around you guys.” Yep, that was Frank. And all with the biggest smile you could ever imagine. RIP my good friend. You will be missed by so many, way more than you would ever know. The Cove is Murrieta’s “Cheers,” so many great times and moments for so many people – but all because of you and Tammy. The human world is a little darker now because it’s missing a very bright light.

  7. I really never knew him, but saw him many times over the last year and a half that I have lived here and have gone to the Cove. I hadn’t seen him the last couple of times I went and was tempted to ask about him as I had read some time ago in the Valley News about his health issues, but did not ask. Today my worst fears were realized as the info about his Celebration of Life popped up on Facebook. It seems almost like yesterday that I saw him at the bar. And quite recently I saw him singing with one of the bands. He smiled at me a couple of times, and made me feel very welcome at the bar. I always wanted to tell him what a great job he does in running this business. Not all entrepreneurs have it together as much as he did. I think part of his success was attributable to the degree of how he closely managed the business. I will feel a little sad every time I go there now. RIP Frank.

  8. I will always remember playing his favorite Def Leppard song on the jukebox when he was behind the bar and how his face lit up with that contagious big smile. Our conversations about being strong and having faith. Most of all how he made everyone feel welcome and like family.

  9. I’ll never forget my first time at Franklins cove, busy night, meeting up with friends. Frank was running around but very friendly. Like overly friendly. I thought to myself, who is this man. He just stood out! I learned later it was his bar! I didn’t frequent the bar often but when there was great bands playing, that place was packed! I had a birthday gathering there and Frank and his staff made it the best!! He will be greatly missed. He is loved by many and brought together great memories for many friends and the community. My deepest sympathy and prayers for the family and friends grieving his loss❤️

  10. In 1985 I moved to Murrieta Valley. In all those years I never really found a place I could call my home away from home. Somehow, in 2017 out of desperation to see a Dodger game , I wound up at the Cove. I distinctly remember Frank catching my eye greeting me and finding a place for me to sit. Simply put, a loyal customer was born. While over time Frank saw me frequent the Cove And always made sure to put the Dodgers on . Shortly after becoming a “regular” I learned Frank was battling Cancer. He was there almost everyday looking after the business and making sure customers were treated “ the Frank and Tammy way” I would sit and watch him work the room both physically and emotionally greeting customers laughing and having a great time It was clear he was doing what he loved . I am glad I got to experience Frank Hellberg doing his thing . I was always astonished at his toughness and his congeniality . May God prepare a very special place for such a warrior ! My heart and prayers go out to Tammy Hellberg Steve Gros

  11. Rest in peace my friend. Tammy, my heart breaks for you. Hugs and prayers to you and the whole family. Laura Woemmel

  12. Sweet Frank I will miss you! I know you will be watching over all of us and we will take care of Tammy! See you in Heaven my Friend!

  13. Thank you England family mortuary for taking care of this wonderful family. I was the happiest person in Murrieta after meeting Frank and Tammy at the Cove. It became my home away from home. The passion, energy and love that Frank showed everyone that came through those doors was incredible. His story will be an inspiration to me and all those I share it with for years to come. This community was beyond blessed to have gotten the chance to know the Hallbergs. Peace and comfort goes out to his family. Frank will live on in all of our hearts forever.

  14. You were truly a one of a kind man. Your smile was so contagious and your love for those around you was amazing You are someone I will cherish for the rest of my life. Your friendship to me is priceless. We have been through so much together and I am such a better person for it. I will miss you always and love you to the moon and back forever
