  1. Coach Billy was one of the most positive influences! He was an incredible coach and always encouraged the boys to give it their all! Thank you for being such an amazing role model for our boys! you will be grealy missed, but not forgotten. Prayers to your loved ones. ~

  2. Dear Tammy, Briana and Derek,
I and a number of Billy’s colleagues from WesCorp had the privilege of attending Billy’s memorial service at the Bridge Church on December 30.

Billy was a pleasure to work with and to know as a person. For almost ten years Billy mesmerized us with his frequent stories about your family, your friends, your adventures, and his special devotion to each of you. Honestly, I felt like I was a part of your family even though we only met personally a few times. I looked forward to Monday mornings just so I could receive the latest update on golf, basketball hockey, trips to the desert, motorcycle riding, family get togethers, and home improvements.

Billy’s life transcended his work and that was evident from the first moments we came to know him. While there are many wonderful things I could say about his intelligence, dedication, vigilance, leadership, and team focus in the work environment, all of his successes there, in my opinion, are completely overshadowed by his glowing love and commitment to you three.

Billy loved you, Briana and Derek, beyond words. Briana, I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about your journey during high school and how proud your dad was of your growing success on the golf course. He felt fortunate that you allowed him to walk that journey with you and you welcomed his ‘coaching’ in a game that he delighted in himself. He would leave San Dimas each day, as early as possible, especially during spring and summer so he could make back to Temecula to spend time with you. And he was proud of your acceptance to NAU and the life and all its possibilities that you had in front of you.

Derek, your success in basketball at point guard, your quickness on the court, your ability to handle the ball, and your clever scoring were all present during the ‘updates’ your dad so kindly shared with me. And if that wasn’t enough, your skill on the motorcycle and adventures in the desert are

  3. Jeremiah 31:13 I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. NIV. Love, the Hernandez family

  4. Tammy and all the family – this loss still seems so unimaginable for me, so I can’t even imagine yours. We were classmates since 8th grade and to this day I can truly say he was one of the kindest, gentlest souls I have ever known. I think back to high school where, even though a high school “guy”, I never heard him say an unkind word about a woman, classmate or anyone else. He was brilliant in his intellect and in his smile. He was a jock, funny at moments – though he laughed more than we did, and just had this energy of positivity that rained over him and everyone around him. I regret not seeing him and you all since moving to San Diego. I missed out — in a big way. I AM glad I got to see all of you when you visited the bay area a few years ago. VERY grateful to have those “adult” memories. ..and of course, the tremendous window coverings. 🙂 I know this isn’t going to be easy and just never will be. I only hope that knowing how many people loved and respected him can one day bring some comfort. I will be at the service, sending hugs and love between now and then.
