Beverly Batt

Beverly was born to William S. Brown and Kathleen L. Bates Brown in Phoenix, AZ, November 19, 1936. Phoenix was home in her early life, then her family moved to Scottsdale, AZ where she graduated from Scottsdale High, Class of '55. After graduating high school, Beverly was accepted into the TWA flight attendant school in Kansas City. From there she flew the friendly skies as a Transworld Airline (TWA) Stewardess. Traveling by plane in the 1950's was a first-class event. TWA Flight Attendant requirements were as follows: Attractive Female, Height 5.2-5.8 ft, Weight 100-135 lbs, Single and No Children. All flight attendants were required to be model-perfect before reporting service, with uniform inspection upon every flight. They were given specific lipstick brand and color they were required to wear. Pantyhose and high heel pumps were a must, along with their nicely pressed uniforms and hats. Beverly moved to Manhattan Beach, CA after falling in love with the beach while on a flight delay. She soon met a wonderful loyal family man named Patrick Allen Kelly and wedding plans began. Beverly had to resign her position as a Stewardess due to TWA's Single and No Children policy. She married Pat on Sept. 9, 1957, in Scottsdale, AZ. She immediately joined the TWA Clipped Wings organization which allowed her to stay in touch with all the wonderful friends she made fly for TWA. After 8 years of marriage her first child Karen Marie finally arrived on Jan. 27, 1965. Then 18 months later her second child Michal Justin arrived on Aug. 10, 1966. Beverly loved being a wife and a mom. She poured all of herself into this role and enjoyed every moment of it. After the children moved out, Beverly and Pat sold their home in Manhattan Beach to retire to Crestline, CA where Pat passed away on April 8, 1998. Shortly after Pat's passing, Beverly moved in with her Karen and family until she felt comfortable living on her own. She soon moved into a beautiful retirement home (Sun City Gardens) where she could feel safe yet have some independence of her own. Within a short time, she caught the eye of a man named Leo Batt who absolutely adored her. Beverly felt love again. They married on Oct. 6, 2004 and to her sadness Leo passed away 12 months later. She continued to live independently in Sun City Gardens with the help of her children. Beverly had a challenging life, but God blessed her with two husbands and two children who loved and cared for her deeply. Beverly's last days were with her family. On Christmas Day 2019 she passed beautifully and peacefully in Karen and her husband Mike's Temecula home surrounded by love and family. Beverly is survived by daughter Karen M. Smith (Mike); son Michael (Kerry); grandchildren Nicholas, Savannah, Connor, Courtney and two great-granddaughters Emma and Layla; sister JoAnn and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
