Ronald Duane Hix Sr.

Ronald Duane Hix Sr., 87, was called to God's garden in heaven on January 13, 2018. His strong devotion to his family and belief in God supported him in his last days on earth and ultimately gave him peace. Ron was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and love of his life, Nancy Marie Reilly, on September 27, 1952. Ron and Nancy were a rare couple, they stuck together through thick and thin. They celebrated the life they built together every day for over 65 years. Ron was an amazing father and wanted for nothing in life but love and health. He helped raise his 8 children with patience, discipline, and humility. He taught and encouraged them to be kind, strong, to laugh and to live life to its fullest. A grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 11, he stood beside them as they were his own. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, his life work was as a tree surgeon. Ron loved his garden and took much pride in the beauty of his plants and flowers. He always strived to surround his loves ones with the bright colors of his statues, if something got old, he made it new again! We could always count on his silly faces to make us laugh and sound advice to get us through life. We will lovingly reflect upon his memories, one by one, and celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator... His family will be holding a service for him at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 27931 Murrieta Rd., Sun City, CA 92586 on February 9, 2018 at 11:00am. Monsignor Ray Kirk will officiate the service. Celebration of Life immediately following mass at Ron and Nancy's home. The family gratefully declines donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted.
