Madeline Kellen

madeline kellen
Madeline Kellen passed away on February 28, 2017 at the age of 100 years. She now joins her husband of 65 years, Gordon Kellen, and is survived by her 3 children: William (Bill) Kellen, Thomas Kellen, and Susan Gallo, and her 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Madeline was born in Rutherford, New Jersey in 1917 to Italian parents, and was the last of eight children. She studied at Hackensack Hospital, New Jersey, where she became a registered nurse in 1938. In 1940 she married Gordon and had their two sons there, and in 1948 they moved to Fontana, California, where they had their 3rd child, Susan. Madeline was a long-time resident of Fontana, (57 years) where she assisted her husband with his photography business. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Fontana in the 1950's and 60's, and also taught as a CCD instructor of Catholic doctrine to children. In her later years (90's) and after her husband died, she moved to Murrieta, California to be near her daughter, and while there she crocheted over 3600 beautiful baby caps for newborn infants in Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. She will be interred at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington, California where Gordon is buried. She will be greatly missed by all her family.

  1. I was only able to see Madeline on the occasion of a Bible study now and then and sharing a dessert maybe on a date night, but what I do remember is a dear sweet lady quietly moving along and very sweet to talk with. May God bless your family with the love and grace knowing she is at peace and rest in her Father’s arms. Vicki and Clark Summers
