Ginger L. Koontz May 9, 1939 – June 26, 2016 Ginger Lee (Polfus) Koontz went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 26, 2016. She had been fighting cancer for over 9 years, she fought a good fight but cancer finally won. Ginger was the first born of her parents, Delmo & Wilma Polfus on May 9, 1939, in McCook Nebraska. Her family then moved to Southern California just before World War II. Ginger graduated from Excelsior High School in Norwalk, Ca. in 1957, received BA degree in Education from Biola University in 1963 and taught for 36 years Ginger and Gary Koontz were married on April 9, 1965. Their son Curtis was born on November 23, 1967. Ginger is survived by her husband Gary, son Curtis, grandchildren, Ari, Levi, and Jahziah; and cousins Ron Sandy and Jolene. In addition, she is survived by her church family and her wonderful family at Michele’s Place in Temecula. She was preceeded in death by her father, mother, and sister Janet. Ginger led a life of service. In addition to her teaching responsibilities she was involved in volunteer service. She volunteer as a leader in Toughlove International for 22 years and eventually became the Volunteer Director for Southern California. She was instrumental in starting 13 additional support groups from Fresno to San Diego. For the last 11 years she has been a Volunteer at Michele’s Place, a breast cancer resource center in Temecula. More than anything in her life was her love for her savior, Jesus Christ. She truly was a born again witness for her faith. She is now in his care in heaven with her family. She will be interned at Laurel Cemetery in Murrieta on Friday July 1, 2016 at 11:00am, there will be a memorial service at Rancho Community Church in Temecula, the date is pending.
