Obituary for Dorothy & John Freeman

Dorothy “Dotty”, passed away in Murrieta, Ca on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born October 25, 1928 in Johnson City, New York to Walter and Frances Rhone. She met her husband, John when he returned from the service and attended her senior high school class of Johnson City High School in 1946 to graduate. They were married at the Westover Methodist Church in Johnson City on April 3, 1948. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert “Bob” Rhone who passed away in 1980. She worked before her children were born as a secretary, and again after her children were grown for Riverside County Flood Control.

John “Jack”, passed away in Murrieta, CA on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the age of 92. John was born April 4, 1925 in Johnson City, New York, to Fred and Nina Freeman. John’s mother passed away when he was 13 years old and he and his two siblings Fred Jr and Richard were raised by their father and his maternal grandmother, Emma Johnson. Both brothers have also passed away. “Jack” as his family affectionately called him joined the US Coast Guard at 17 and served at several stations around the corners of the United States ending his service at Port Angeles, Washington before returning home. After marrying and building a home in Kirkwood NY and starting their family, he worked for IBM as a computer engineer for 35 years during that time he transferred to Riverside, California, with his family, retiring in 1981 to Youngsville, North Carolina where they lived for 30 years before returning to the west coast and finally the last years in Murrieta, California.

They are survived by their children, Cathy Diyorio, son-in-law Bob, daughter, Patricia Valadez, and son, Lawrence Freeman, daughter in law, Wendy. Grandchildren, Tara Diyorio Apodaca, husband, Tony, Keri Diyorio, Alexa Hildalgo, husband Cameron, grandson Cameron Valadez, Colt Freeman, wife Sarah, and grandson, Nathaniel Dunn.

Great Grandchildren, Declan Freeman, Dylan Leighann Apodaca, Ethan Freeman and Amelia Anne Freeman.

They touched the lives of many, family and friends. They celebrated their lives thru their loved ones. Enjoying life’s simplest pleasures, travels, home, gardening, cooking, music, reading and sharing others experiences especially their grandchildren. They will be missed every day and we will cherish their lives that were shared with us and the knowledge they are together.
