David James Williams

David James “Jamie” Williams was born July 10, 1976 in Wilcox, Arizona, to David and Danna Williams. He spent his childhood getting into all kinds of mischief with his younger brother, best friend, and partner-in-crime, Daniel, while his older sister, Diana, attempted to keep the two in line. He graduated from Graves County High School in Mayfield, Kentucky in 1994, and went on to enlist in the Marine Corps. In 1994, prior to his departure for basic training, he visited Diana at Harding University, and was immediately enamored with her suitemate, JoyAnna Davison. Joy, uninterested in long hair, earrings, or motorcycles, did not return the sentiment. She did, however, as a favor to Diana, offer her family’s support when Jamie was later stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California. The Davison family took the young Marine under their wing, taking him to church every Sunday and having him over for dinner. By the time JoyAnna returned to California for the summer, Jamie was a member of the family, and a constant presence in the Davison household. The two soon struck up a friendship and started dating, spending every possible moment together. They were married on April 13, 1996— at the tender ages of only 19 and 20, but with a love strong enough to last them a lifetime. They welcomed their first child, Cannon, on March 18, 1998. Their second daughter, Macailah, was soon to follow on August 5, 1999, and their only son, Truston, on June 5, 2005. Jamie lived and breathed for his God and his family. He centered his life around being a loving servant, father, and husband. He was fiercely loyal to the people he loved, always the first to extend a helping hand, and the first to go the extra mile. He consistently walked alongside friends going through hard times, always available to go to coffee or to share an audio sermon. He often carried his Bible to the job site, reading it on his lunch break in hopes of starting conversation. He had a heart for missions work in Mexico and beyond; his favorite project to date was a church he designed and built out of metal shipping containers for a local congregation in Baja California. He maintained a tough exterior, but those who knew him well knew he had a huge smile and a booming laugh that could light up a room. He had a dreamer’s heart and an adventurer’s soul; he left us before we were ready, but we take comfort in knowing that he has now had the greatest adventure of them all.
